We’ve Moved

If you’re reading this, the blog has moved. It should be responding faster now. My host recently acquired a datacenter slightly closer to home, and was kind enough to move my site free of charge. Hooray for good service.

The only info I have is what I read about on Slashdot. I have a new link from , but I don’t have it either (and neihter does the guy who does BB Gadgets). There’s a little discussion there as well. I’ll add that link to the original posting.Basically, Google rolls stuff out in waves, so it might take some time before it gets to you. I can’t wait because I’ll start using Thunderbird again (I’ve been waiting for an excuse to use it again and this is a perfect one).

( 2012.02.14 23:43 ) : I must express some aporceiatipn to you for rescuing me from such a crisis. Just after surfing around through the the net and getting thoughts which are not productive, I was thinking my entire life was done. Being alive devoid of the strategies to the difficulties you have resolved by way of your good article is a critical case, as well as ones which may have in a negative way damaged my career if I had not noticed your web blog. Your own personal talents and kindness in taking care of all things was tremendous. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I hadn’t come upon such a step like this. I can also at this time relish my future. Thanks a lot so much for this impressive and results-oriented guide. I won’t hesitate to propose the sites to any person who needs direction on this area.

I read that article just a couple of hours ago and felt the same way. I’ve stopped reading the CSM on a regular basis for their anti-technology bias. It would be interesting to read the entire study because it is wide-ranging and rather large. I agree that it’s probably a matter of parental interaction that is the key here, not wealth or social status. The statement at the end of the article was quite telling in that such a study in the business world would be pointless. Technology is here and here to stay, such studies should focus on how to most effectively utilize technology rather than whether it is good or bad.

I like Oracle development. A lot. However, Java is one hell of a slick language. In point of fact, it absolutely blows something like PL/SQL away (except that PL/SQL has this amazing global synchronized memory structure with a Turing-complete functional API — i.e. the database). However, Java is plagued with Frameworks. You want to put something on the web, well you have Servlets, JSP, Velocity, Tapestry, JSF, etc (everything but Wicket mostly sucks by the way — Wicket is so elegant you’ll weep). Then there’s database access: JDBC, TopLink, Hibernate, JDO, oh my. In short there are so many ways to do things that the libraries overwhelm quickly. So then fools start hiring people who know the libraries. Those of us in the know refer to these folk as “framework developers.” This is quite simply because they typically can’t code a lick. But a good OO developer can really do a nice piece of work with Java. They just have to deal with the “designed by committee” plagues that are most of the J2EE libraries. Except Wicket, it makes the Sweet Baby Jesus ™ weep.

A psychiatrist is a phyicsian who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. I have a bachelor’s degree in the social services field. For several years, I have worked with children who have been diagnosed with mental disorders. It is upsetting to see children victimize at an early age and even more disturbing to see them as predators as early as 5 years of age, however knowing that I am doing my part to assist them in becoming functioning youths and adults is rewarding. The empathy, confidentiality and maturity of a medical assistant are definitely needed in this area. I enjoy establishing a rapport with these clients and helping them to find adequate coping skills to deal with their disorders, therefore I would like to work for a psychiatrist.I would not like to work for an emergency phyicsian for several reasons. I will explain a few. Patients who come to the emergency center typically have serious injuries or trauma. I would not like to have my mind constantly focused on who is coming thru the door and how sever the prognosis is. Knowing myself, I know that would be my focus and I would not be very productive. Also, in the emergency room the staff has to be prepared for anything, I would prefer an area that focuses on a particular specialty. Most importantly, I do not wish to see excessive amounts of blood loss on a regular basis. Actually, not even a minimal amount of blood loss on a regular basis. Giving my opinion and thoughts about this specialty, I would not be an effective employee.
