The Pursuit of Life

I’ve never been much of a fan of the death penalty. Partly because it costs more to go through the proceedings to carry it out than it does to keep a person imprisoned for the rest of his/her life (although those sentenced to death are disproportionately male), and partly because it just doesn’t seem right. I know I would never feel comfortable as a juror condemning a human being to death. That just doesn’t seem like something man is meant to do.

Anyways, death is sure in the news today. In a rather odd turn of events, David Larry Nelson, a convicted killer in the state of Alabama, has been succesfully granted an appeal on the basis that death by lethal injection would be cruel and unusual punishment, as he claims years of drug abuse has rendered his veins unusable for the procedure. He argues that to inject him as such, they would have to dig deep into his flesh, and that it would hence lead to any number of unpleasant complications.

Meanwhile, Michigan native, and everyone’s favorite accessory to mass-murder and terrorism, is being accused of no less than 161 counts of first degree murder in Oklahoma, for which he too could get the death penalty. Its hard to believe that this isn’t over with a full nine years since the bombing took place. Thats our justice system.

After tearing apart my motorcycle, working on the carburetors, and putting it back together, I have succesfully ended up with a motorcycle that still doesn’t work correctly. Much to my chagrin, after the whole debacle, after only a short ride, the bike began missing on one of its cylinders… Oi vay.

On a more pleasant note, Michael Moore has succesfully claimed the Palme d’Or at the Cannes film festival with the film I was lucky enough to preview. This was the first time in nearly 50 years that a documentary has won the prize. While I don’t find this altogether surprising, as it was an exceedingly well done film, I am glad to see the film get the press it now has, as it will make it very difficult to keep it out of American theaters, despite Disney’s attempts. We really need all the help we can get to extricate our current evil president, as has become exceedingly and abundantly clear as of late. If you ever find yourself confused on this point, pick up a copy of Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, and see for yourself what is done right under our noses. I’m ashamed for the intelligent people who share their political affiliation with such men.

Vive la Rvolution!

Never think that just because you plan to exclusively nurse, you don’t need some kind of pump. You need to be prepared for the possibility that baby may not take to it right away, and you may need to pump and bottle feed in the mean time. You cannot take the attitude that if baby is hungry enough, he will eat. That is just not true. I totally encourage breastfeeding, but I also know firsthand that it can be difficult. My son nursed great for the first week, and then started having trouble. I don’t know why he had trouble, but I did have to pump a few times while my boyfriend bottle fed him. We eventually got the hang of it(until my milk spontaneously dried up), but if I had not had a pump, it could have dried up much sooner. Invest in a mid- priced double electric pump just to be on the safe side. It’ll also be good for if you want to go out with hubby when baby is a little older so you don’t have to give formula. I guarantee you will use it at some point. 0Was this answer helpful?

I’m still waiting for the blessed event.  With Evan’s autism and sensory issues, I’m still changing diapers at 6 years old.  But Evan’s new teacher has a system she has used before, which we will be implementing after the winter holidays.  She did warn us to be vigilant once she starts.  There have been cases where the kid gets trained for school, but stays untrained at home.Thought of you this weekend.  Came across a copy of  "Mr. Rogers talks with Parents".  Completely inclusive attitude toward parenting, published in 1983.  I’m guessing the fact that his parents adopted his brother had something to do with developing his attitude.  I came to Mr. Rogers late in his life.  Never really watched it as a kid, but really appreciate it now.  I guess his love and acceptance of all people as they are is what led Fred Phelps to picket his funeral.  See if you can find it.

Nice work! Always good to see more of Yolandi’s bod, and less of Waddy’s ugly mug! Plus, it’s just an interesting composition (lots going on in that pic!) despite the gratuitous “satanic” stuff . Something I see they’re utilizing more and more (especially in the new vid), and which usually sells well (see Alice Cooper, et al)What I personally love about DA, is not any one particular element, but their spirit, their attitude, their ambition in using current tech and the interwebs, to blow it up. This, is exactly how you do it, and Waddy and YoL know it, and they caught a break by being featured on BB.Waddy tries to drop his uber-ghetto BS as often as possible, but it’s the artist in him that I find most interesting. (Waddy, stop trying so hard, you’re going to burn us out on the Ninja character.) Last chat vid they offered, where he and YoLandi are in some kind of caravan/trailer sharing a spliff, he says “f*cking” literally every other word, and it gets tiring. I also loved how YoLandi babbled something in Afrikaans, gives Waddy an air kiss-kiss, and he didn’t like it. Messed up his tough and cool (act.)Also interesting to see him pull in some genuine local rude boys, to add “authenticity.” Ah-oh, DA’s got a posse! The BoingBoing crowd “gets it,” both the art and the (contrived) outrage. You ain’t foolin’ this crowd, and/but we still love it! I was at a RoR Meetup last night, and the new vid was a hot topic, among us tech geeks.

I worked for RadioShack from 2001 until 2006, for one of the longest-employed managers in the company (over 30 years when I started). Amongst some of the awesome tech detritus he had tucked away was a small file cabinet full of old RadioShack catalogs- our own private archive for looking up information on discontinued product. Going through those catalogs on slow and snowy days was awesome, and although I think something will be lost in not having the old paper to slide between your fingers, I’ll probably burn through a few lunch hours looking at this site.As anyone who was a ‘Shack monkey for long knows, RadioShack is a bit like the mafia… once you’re in, you’re in for *life*. I still look suspiciously for missing price tags and spacesaver clips when I go into a store, and woe betide any employee who doesn’t know how to manipulate the POS system when I’m making a purchase. Honestly I can’t tell why the RadioShack company has slipped so far off of it’s hobbiest moorings. The stores were originally known as a good place to buy project gear, radio accessories (and radios… <3 HTX-202) and if you go back far enough, even computers.** Now the company seems intent on selling off-brand home audio equipment, poorly-made iPod accessories, and pushing mobile phones to an already oversaturated market. They still have many of the cables and adapters that no one else carries, but they’ve lost a lot of the core items that made them awesome. I think the first thing they could do to restore awesomeness(tm) is to get back into radio gear… bring out an HTX-202 Retro unit, identical to the old model but maybe with improved battery life. Then bring in better quality home stereo equipment, and for gods sake bring back the car stereo section, even in miniature!err, not that I have an opinion on this or anything…~Bilby~**Well, technically if you go back far enough what Radio Shack was known for was leather products, but that’s just because Old Man Tandy started out in leather, and anyway the leather goods never made up more then half the store..(pops)[tl;dr - old catalogs rule, radioshack was fun but is leaning towards suck, bring back old RS]

Hey there! I know this is kinda off topic but I
was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website?
I’m getting sick and tired of Wordpress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform.
I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
